How to Mince Fresh Ginger
Step #1: Peel and roughly chop the ginger
Step #2: Scoop the ginger into a ziplock bag.
Step # 3: Using a heavy saucepan, whack the heck out of the ginger. Make lots of noise.
Tip: Don’t seal the ziplock bag all of the way or it will burst open and you’ll have minced ginger on the ceiling.
Finished product: Use what you need, seal the bag and lay your minced ginger flat in the freezer. For future recipes, break off what you need and re-freeze.
Note: While it might be tempting to whack the ginger to a thin pulp, a more fibrous texture allows it to retain more flavor in the freezer.
